Apparatus

Our Fleet

Apparatus

The Plainfield Fire Protection District maintains a fleet of front-line and reserve apparatus deployed across four stations. Each vehicle type serves a specific operational role — from structural firefighting and aerial operations to advanced life support transport and specialized rescue.

Engines

Pumper apparatus carrying water, hose, and equipment for fire suppression. Engines are the primary response unit for structural fires and are staffed on every shift at every station.

Trucks / Aerials

Ladder and aerial apparatus providing elevated access for rescue, ventilation, and elevated master stream operations. Trucks also carry specialized ground ladders, forcible entry, and ventilation equipment.

Ambulances

Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport units staffed by Firefighter/Paramedics. Equipped with cardiac monitors, advanced airway equipment, a full medication formulary, and 12-lead ECG capability.

Squads / Rescue

Multi-purpose units carrying technical rescue, hazardous materials, and water rescue equipment. Squads respond to specialized incidents and supplement engine and truck companies on working fires.

Battalion Chief Vehicles

Command vehicles operated by shift Battalion Chiefs who provide on-scene incident management, coordinate multi-unit responses, and oversee daily shift operations across all four stations.

Support & Specialty

Support vehicles including the MABAS Division 15 Decontamination Unit, water rescue trailers, utility vehicles, and the special events Polaris and bike units used for community event EMS standby.
